HOW IT WORKS

The newborn stage is so short and precious, this photoshoot is ideal for babies who are, between 5 – 14 days old, this is the perfect time to get those beautiful curled up images. With a little extra time and patience, we can offer newborn sessions to babies who are up to 6 weeks of age.

The session will last between 1-4 hours, as the photography session is based around Baby, and they will need to feed and get cuddles too.

We will also work to get gorgeous sibling shots and family group images too.

There is only one point in time to capture beautiful images of your newborn.

Our newborn photography sessions are really popular, I only take on a limited number each month.

I do occasionally get a last minute space open up, so don’t hesitate to call us and check availability.

a On booking you’ll pay £75, this will secure your session, this is then deductible from your chosen package. You won’t choose this until you have seen your images.

You will be invited back to the studio approximately 3 weeks after your session to view your final images and select your package and wall art.

If you do not wish to purchase a package you don’t have to.

Newborn sessions are scheduled Monday – Friday.

YOUR QUESTIONS

WHY DO I HAVE TO BOOK IN ADVANCE?

I do get busy very quickly sometimes, and often do not have spaces to fit new mums in who have not been able to book. It’s horrible turning people away especially when they have spent 6 months looking at the website, so please do book after your 12 week scan.

WILL YOU BE HANDLING MY BABY?

Yes, it’s one of the best bits about my job, l will be cuddling soothing and posing your baby during the entire session, of course there will be times when only a Mummy cuddle will do and I will hand the baby straight back to you, and if at any point in the session you need a cuddle just say.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY BABY WON'T SLEEP?

Don’t worry this is quite normal, when you arrive we spend time getting the baby settled this sometimes takes 5 minutes, and sometimes it takes much longer. Your baby may even cry too, and thats fine also. Equally during the session you will most likely need to feed the baby and top them up with Mummy cuddles, that fine also, I will pop the kettle on and make you a brew.

4 HOURS IS A LONG TIME?

Babies are very intuitive and pick up on things, so wouldn’t stay sleepy if they are being rushed and moved a lot, so we take things slowly, allowing time for feeds and cuddles. Your baby is the one in charge, they will dictate how fast or how slow we go, so allowing 4 hours is key, your baby may be happy and sleepy right from the start and we may be quicker, but ultimately they dictate the pace.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY BABY HAS AN ACCIDENT ON YOUR THINGS?

Again please don’t worry about it; I am always shocked when it DOESN’T happen. All my throws, blankets etc are washed with fairy non-biological powder after every session. Babies will wee and poo and on occasion be a bit sick when they need to, and so l am used to it. I’m always prepared for it and it won’t faze me.

DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?

Bring enough for extra feeds, and your usual nappy supply. Other than that l have everything else that may be needed. If you have your own prop ideas, then please bring them, let me know in advance so I can plan how to best use them, it could be Daddies football shirt or a special toy, that’s fine i will do my best to incorporate it into the shoot.

IS NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY SAFE?

Yes is the simple answer. Your baby’s is my top priority, we won’t do anything to put your baby at risk at any time. Some of the images you see, where a baby is holding its head in its hands, or in a tub are done with a bit of editing trickery. Some poses will involve you giving me a helping hand to keep baby safe.

CAN I BRING MY OTHER CHILDREN TO THE SESSION?

The studio is only small, and so there is not much room for children, and asking them to sit quietly and not to move around for 4 hours is a BIG ask, therefore i can’t accommodate your other children unfortunately during a Newborn session; however, sibling shots are pretty awesome, so if you want some sibling shoots, let me know that’s what you want and the best thing is to arrange for a partner or grandparent to bring the other children along at the start of the session, we can get those sibling shoots, then the children can be taken away and we can then focus on the Newborn.

I'VE SEEN AN IMAGE THAT I WANT YOU TO CREATE?

I am happy to talk through any images you want to do, but not all babies are happy in certain poses and your baby may be one of them, You will have to trust my judgment, training and knowledge in knowing what your precious bundle will do, so I can’t make any promises on poses etc. But if you have a prop that you would like incorporated in to an image, please don’t hesitate to ask.
